a couple of parts could have done with some difficulty tweaks [specifically the top right and bottom two areas - i am genuinely unsure if it's possible to complete them without taking damage], but this was lovely. i thought the "twist" of the ending was quite clever too. glad to hear you'll be working on larger things in the future!
holy cow this is one of the greatest Metroidvanias on this website - and I’ve played them all! Absolutely perfect game, love the level design. So cool you managed to incorporate a map on pico-8! Loved the abilities and just the pacing was masterful. Please keep making Metroidvanias!
edit - just realized you also made menerva-324 which is one of my GOTYs. Incredible. You gotta make a full scale project and get it on steam, easy day one buy and I’ll convince many others to check it out
Really well done! It reminds me of Metroid crossed with Blaster Master! It looks, sounds, and plays great. I liked the letters on each screen describing the back story too. The lack of invincibility frames however and getting hit multiple times after a mistake can be frustrating at times. And, the difficulty really ramps up in the lower left corner of the map where you get the last button(?) and then have to get all the way back the checkpoint in one life. Maybe I'm just not great at such precision moves. I finally beat the game and really liked it! I decided that the ending was about their friend falling into depression and the player making an effort to come find them? Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's what I thought. I'd love to see their further adventures! Cheers! :)
it was nice and good game tbh , ehh the ending was a bit wired- ,and the letters i think or the player talking to herself was a bit cool if i may say beisde that the game is great , great job keep going
